Jehovah's Witnesses Do Not Act Like Christians. They Act Like Jews
by minimus inbecause witnesses are less into christ than they are into moses.
when christ talks about turning the other cheek, witnesses talk about why the faithful should shun anyone that doesn't see eye to eye with them.
the jewish religious leaders were condemned by christ for their biases.. why do jehovah's witnesses treat disfellowshipped ones as if they were "dead"?

Your All Time Favorite Song- If You Had to Pick Just One ?
by flipper ini decided to do a couple fluff threads tonight as my threads have been way too deadly seroius lately !
so if someone told you to pick one song that was your all-time favorite, what would you pick ?
i'd have to say for me it has not changed since the 1971 hit by led zeppelin, " stairway to heaven ".

I'm the type that needs people around me all of the time. I don't need to converse with them, just have them there while I do my own thing. For every day full of people and activities, I need about two hours by myself. Not much time alone needed at all. If I get lonely, I'll go to the mall or visit a friend. I deal. -

Blessed be to everyone! I choked up reading that beautiful poem. I too have found a much deeper spiritual meaning in paganism that I never found elsewhere. I went to the Yule festival on the 15th of this month and redid it at home but with just myself. "May the sun rise up to meet you."

Spirit of Christmas - Christian versus non-Christian
by Cellist ina few days ago our neighbourhood had a group of christmas carolers go door to door.
they went to every door singing carols and leaving a plate of goodies.
they announced, between carols, that they were from the local baptist church.

Yup, Christianity seems to be just a bit like a commercial advertizing for more members. Sorry to offend them but that is my observation. Although they really do mean well, could an actively practicing Christian really do a generous thing for another person without announcing or inviting that one to their church? Are they really and truly able to respect the beliefs of those that don't match their own? -

One More Reason Not to Book Hotel on WT List
by WTWizard inalthough i don't know this as a fact, i suspect that the wts is negotiating some pretty lucrative rebates from these hotels (which of course the rank and file jw pays) because they can guarantee a full house at $xxx per night.
this came from last year's thread about the rooming department km insert, and will almost certainly apply this year.
but, when the watchtower society negotiates with hotels, they are not having difficulties negotiating just for the price that you, the attendee, pay.

Priceline.com or other cheap ticket sites on the 'net are the best way to go for getting a good price and not obeying the orders of the WTS. Just disobeying feels good. -

I'm Happy to Live in a Christian Nation

I think he agrees with the post. I agree with some of it in that if someone could get executed for naming a teddy bear, there is something very wrong with that religion. Some of the article seems a bit prejudicial, though, because I'm sure that not all Muslims agree with the injustices that the radicals commit in their religion's name. I don't believe in blanket statements that make every member of a group look bad for the actions of a few (or most). I believe in the facts: naming a teddy bear Jesus, would not get one killed because Jesus represents peace. Isn't Islam supposed to be a peaceful religion according to a slogan I once saw? It's doing a shitty job of it! -

The Power of DA
by freydi ini read with sadness the various travails of those who are in and want out but haven't, mostly for the sake of family, the unmitigated temerity to df the borg, and are just waiting for the inevitable kangaroo miscarriage of justice by a jc to pull your plug, and then consoling yourself with thinking that the hounders may have had a sleepless night or two once they'd done their dirty business.
of course you know that after a night or two they've deleted you from their hard drives, so the consolation is pretty much short-lived.
but it seems to me that to give, not only the hounders, but the whole circuit lingering and on-going second thoughts, that maybe they're the ones who are in the wrong and how many others there might be, is when they don't get a chance to hang some bum rap you, and you give them the pink slip.

DA in a talk. What a classy and powerful way to go. It empowers you to go out the way you want with everyone hearing your side to it first. No rumors to spread as everyone would know the same story at the same time. Good luck in however you do it.
